🔹 Introduction to Vedic Maths

Vedic Maths is an ancient system of mathematical calculations discovered from the Vedas (ancient Hindu scriptures). It is based on 16 Sutras (formulas) and 13 Sub-Sutras (corollaries). This system simplifies arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and trigonometry, making calculations faster and more intuitive.

🔹 Level 1: Beginner Level (Basic Techniques)

1. Addition and Subtraction Using "By Completion"

Sutra: "Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah"

👉 All from 9 and last from 10

✅ Example:

1000 – 645 = ?

Subtract each digit from 9 (except the last one from 10):

9 – 6 = 3, 9 – 4 = 5, 10 – 5 = 5

✅ Answer = 355

Practice Set:

1. 1000 – 348 = ?

2. 500 – 126 = ?

3. 700 – 349 = ?

2. Multiplying Numbers Close to Base 10, 100, 1000

Sutra: "Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah"

✅ Example:

98 × 97 = ?

Base = 100

Deficit = -2 and -3

Cross subtraction → 98 - 3 = 95

Multiply deficit → -2 × -3 = 6

✅ Answer = 9506

3. Digit Sums to Verify Answers

Sutra: "Shunyam Saamyasamuccaye"

✅ Example:

256 × 43 = ?

Multiply = 11008

Sum of digits = 2 + 5 + 6 = 13 → 1 + 3 = 4

Sum of digits in 43 = 4 + 3 = 7

Sum of digits in 11008 = 1 + 1 + 0 + 0 + 8 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

✅ Answer is correct

🔹 Level 2: Intermediate Level (Multiplication and Division)

4. Multiplying Two Numbers Near a Common Base

Sutra: "Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam" (Vertically and Crosswise)

✅ Example:

42 × 44 = ?

Base = 40

Deviation from base = +2 and +4

Cross addition = 42 + 4 = 46 or 44 + 2 = 46

Multiply deviations = 2 × 4 = 8

✅ Answer = 1848

5. Dividing Numbers Using "Flag Method"

Sutra: "Paravartya Yojayet" (Transpose and Adjust)

✅ Example:

123 ÷ 7 = ?

Flag digit of divisor (7) = 1

First digit = 1 → Bring it down

12 – 7 = 5 → Bring down 3

53 ÷ 7 = 7 (remainder = 4)

✅ Answer = 17, R = 4

6. Finding Square Roots Using Duplex Method

Sutra: "Anurupyena" (Proportionally)

✅ Example:

√729 = ?

Closest square = 25

✅ Answer = 27

🔹 Level 3: Advanced Level (Algebra & Speed Multiplication)

7. Algebraic Multiplication Using "Vertically and Crosswise"

✅ Example:

(2x + 3)(3x + 4) = ?

Multiply first terms → 2x × 3x = 6x²

Cross-multiply → 2x × 4 + 3x × 3 = 8x + 9x = 17x

Multiply last terms → 3 × 4 = 12

✅ Answer = 6x² + 17x + 12

Break into parts → 123 × 432 + 4 × 4321

9. Trigonometry Using Vedic Maths

✅ Example:

sin 45° = √(1/2) = 0.707

✅ cos 60° = √(1/2) = 0.5
